Canaria Cherimoya (Annona cherimola)
Canaria variety has green nondescript winged fragrant flowers borne in spring followed by large green heart shaped and knobbly fruit. Creamy white juicy flesh which is soft, delicate and has the taste and consistency of custard. Enclosed in the flesh are large black seeds, they come away easily. The fruit has a delightful fruity fragrance.
Cherimoyas are egg-shaped, globe-shaped or heart-shaped with an unusual velvety, thin skin that is light green in colour. The white pulp offers a mild flavour likened to a blend of banana, vanilla, mango, papaya, pineapple and coconut.
Most Cherimoyas are true to type and self - pollinate. However hand pollination might be required for certain varieties, we recommend buying two plants for cross pollination and to improve the quality of taste.
