3+ years old Grafted Calamansi onto trifoliate. The plants are going to flower this season. A large size,  beautiful and healthy looking plant.

This is the real Asian calamansi or Filipino Citrus plant. They are slightly different than the cross bred calamansi and has a distinguished smell and an intense lime taste. Plants are well established most already producing flowers/fruit at the moment.

Calamansi is a small citrus fruit, with a bright orange flesh and a peel that goes from green to orange as it ripens. It tastes sour with a hint of sweetness, like a mix between a lime and a mandarin. It has a distinctive aroma – citrusy and floral.

One of the most popular citrus and widely used in Asian cuisine, Calamansi can be found in fruit juices, and as a garnish for other well-known meals in Asian cuisine.

Plant Care

  • Soil: Prefers well-draining, fertile soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
  • Watering: Water deeply and regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from frost.
  • Light: Full sun is essential for optimal growth and fruit production.
  • Fertilising: Use a citrus-specific NPK fertilizer with micronutrients, typically a ratio like 6-3-3, every four to six weeks during the growing season.
  • Pruning: Prune to shape, improve airflow, and remove dead or diseased branches in late winter or early spring.
  • Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base to help retain moisture and suppress weeds, but keep it away from the trunk.
  • Pest Control: Monitor for citrus pests such as scale, mites, and citrus leaf miner. Treat with appropriate insecticides or natural remedies.
  • Flowering and Fruiting: Blooms in spring with fruit development continuing through summer and into fall, depending on the variety.
  • Potting: Suitable for container growing, especially dwarf varieties. Ensure containers have good drainage.
  • Feeding Regime: Increase feeding frequency during peak growing and fruiting periods.

Calamansi Plant

Rose was easy to communicate with. The plant arrived looking fresh and healthy. I was concerned that it was supposed to arrive on Monday but got to us on Tuesday. The plant was a bit smaller than in the picture I saw where it looked bigger and taller. But it is okay. I don’t think it will fruit this year verses what I was told.

Grafter calamnsi

Compared to the airlayered calamansi i bought early this year, this grafter calamnsi does not have fruits though it has some flowers, the leaves have yellow tinge to it and is not as bushy as the air layered one.

Epic little lime

This little gem is just a stunner purchased February 2022 she is producing ripe fruit now. Stayed evergreen through winter last year. We live costal so very windy even in sheltered spot still is exposed to wind but is growing quickly in pot. I’m gonna move and plant in my orchard(very exposed to high winds) have other citrus young trees covered but have two older citrus that are booming. Will update review when tree has been planted in ground after winter. Packaging was the BEST as always.
