What does New Zealand Longan taste like?

Have you ever wondered what a Longan tastes like? In this video I show you what a Longan is, which is popular fruit from South East Asia. Thailand would be the biggest exporter of Longan to the rest of the world. Sometimes you can buy them from an asian supermarket.  Surprisingly, the Longan can be grown in New Zealand and is similar to a lychee although lychee is a lot bigger and I personally love lychee a lot myself.

Did you know there is a very big Longan tree in West Auckland? These is also quite a few up north as well. I do have one big plant that I grow in a pot and this year I got a couple bunches that I'm really happy about. We have sold a lot of longan plants this year and we've got a lot more in Spring and we'll be able to sell them to you, we are so excited.

So, this is how the Longan looks like. They have a hard skin that you can peel. The longan I am tasting is Kohala. It is very sweet and its the same exact variety that we are selling on our website. Mmmm...so good.
