Plant Care

Light

Most types of banana plants prefer to grow in full sun meaning at least six hours of direct sunlight most days. Some varieties can scorch easily and will do better in partial shade.

Water

Need a lot of water and plenty of moisture in the air. They do best when planted in groups fairly close together, as this helps to retain moisture in the leaves. Water regularly to make sure the soil stays evenly moist but not soggy. Avoid overwatering in winter which can cause root rot.

Soil

Well drained fertile soil and slightly acidic. They typically have poor tolerance for salt in the soil.

Fertilizer

Apply a balanced fertilizer regularly throughout the growing season. Also, mix compost into the soil annually to raise the level of organic matter.

My very well packaged Mona Lisa Banana arrived in a timely manner and was correctly addressed as I requested. This is a key thing as our address is a business address with multiple businesses in the same complex and the plant is fragile so a miss addressed delivery could ruin the plant.
At this stage, 14 days in, my lovely healthy plant is still in its pot but acclimatizing to its new home. It is a well grown and ready for planting. My hesitation is only the cold overnight temperatures in our area and I want the best start possible for it. I am looking forward to seeing it grow and produce fruit. Many thanks to you Rose and your team.
