Garry Casimiroa / White Sapote (Casimiroa edulis)

Garry Casimiroas is another great variety of seedling white sapote plant believed to be originated in Auckland. The fruit tastes wonderful. It is sweet, and creamy when ripen really close texture to an avocado. Best to consume this fruit cold.

Garry is very upright growing plant and grow very rigorously. The fruit size is medium and is a heavy cropper. The plant can be pruned down once a year to keep it in more manageable size. 

Low maintenance plant and produce such a delicious fruit. 

Plant size 4+ years. More than 1m tall. Some might be close to 1.6m.

Plant Care 

Light

Partial to full direct sunlight

Water

Plenty of water around summer, less during winter. Never let the soil dry out or the root to soak in water

Soil

Well-draining, mulch well to keep moist all year around

Fertilizer

Feed with a weak liquid citrus fertilizer throughout the growing season. 

Wind

Keep away from strong wind. Young or small plants will require a wind break. Stake the plant to give support against wind

Frost

Frost tender when young, provide shade or cloth cover during winter

Fruiting

1-2 years for grafted and cutting grown. 4+ years from seedlings
