Queen Pineapple (Ananas comosus) 

Queen pineapples are dark-yellow with a small core. The Queen pineapple has a pleasant aroma and flavour, but does not can well. Instead, they're better eaten fresh. Queen pineapples are more tolerant of diseases and cold temperatures than other types of pineapple.  

Plant Care

• Soil: Requires well-drained, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Ideal pH is between 4.5 and 5.5.
• Watering: Water consistently but allow the soil to dry slightly between watering.
• Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures; protect from frost.
• Light: Full sun is essential for healthy growth and fruit development.
• Fertilising: Use a balanced, slow-release fertiliser enriched with micronutrients, particularly during the growing season.
• Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed, mainly to remove old or dead leaves.
• Mulching: Organic mulch helps retain soil moisture and keeps roots cool.
• Flowering & Fruiting: Produces a single fruit per plant; fruit matures about 18 months after planting.
• Potting: Can be grown in large pots with good drainage.
• Fertilising Regime: Fertilise every three months during active growth.
